Things to know about denture repairs

Everyone knows that if something breaks, it needs to be fixed and dentures are no different! Denture repairs are a must and as time wears on, they become susceptible to breaks, cracks, accidental damage and more.

We understand this can have a major impact on day to day life and that’s why dentures need to be repaired quickly by leading denture technicians – carrying out high quality false teeth repairs to a professional and efficient standard.

Here are some things to know about denture repairs.

How are dentures broken?

There are many different reasons why dentures break, depending on the circumstances.

From being poorly fitted and scratched by harsh cleaning products, to excessive wear resulting in loose, worn dentures and force applied from chewing or dropping them.

If you find that your dentures are broken as a result of the reasons listed above, you will need to find your nearest dental technician as soon as possible to get them fixed.

If it’s an emergency, then you’re in luck! Smiles & More provide free consultations where you don’t need to book an appointment and an out of hours repair service running from 6am to 10pm, 7 days a week at our Warrington clinic – so you are never having to wait to smile ever again! Call us on 07867 419 933 for more information.

How are they fixed?

Once you enter the clinic, we will assess the level of damage. Simple procedures may only require an adjustment for a comfortable fit. If parts are missing, usually these can be made using the original mould of the denture as a basis. If the denture is split in half, gluing and adding another layer of acrylic should do the trick. Further reinforcement can be done by inserting a small metal rod.

Our Warrington and Widnes clinics are equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, where our experienced dental technicians are able to repair your dentures – whether they are fractured or have chipped or missing teeth. In most cases, we can finish on the same day and within 60 minutes!

Take note!

Do not attempt to repair your dentures at home as this can lead to further damage and discomfort. Always consult a professional and if you have any queries you can contact us directly by completing our ‘Ask Gary’ form on the home page.
